How I Healed

How It Began

When I knew I was dying I prostrated and asked God to let me die or show me how to heal and to make it so clear that I would have no doubt in my mind. The next day answers started coming and it was like I was being led down a yellow brick road, one footstep at a time, to the right people and information. Through my path and the following I healed myself by learning to manipulate my hormones through diet and fasting, healing and strengthening my nervous system and body through movement, exercise, and nature, and through self-concept mastery and my connection to my higher power, God. I learned to take away instead of adding in, to become very aware of what entered my body and mind and how my energy was affected by foods, sounds, and people. I learned that most pharmaceuticals cover up symptoms while destroying health and I removed all of them from my life.

Diet & Fasting:

I learned about the importance of what we put into our body due to my kids having celiac disease and dairy allergies. When they were younger we didn’t have gluten free options so I made everything from scratch. I learned what made them have reactions, physical, emotional, and mental and by monitoring their diets I healed their guts and skin. When I got sick and didn’t know why I knew how important my diet would be and I was led to raw foods. Around 9 years ago I first went vegan, then raw vegan, and then switched my whole family to a raw vegan diet. Raw foods digest quickly giving our digestive system a well needed break. Digestion uses up most of our energy so eating raw food frees up energy for the body to use for healing itself. In my home we only eat fruit until dinner. Fruit is hydrating, helps the body to cleanse and detox, and fills the desire for sweets. Eating raw foods also gives us more nutrients that are cooked out of and missing from most foods. Eating this way helped keep me alive when my body wasn’t making the necessary vitamins and hormones. Fasting is also really important. Intermittent fasting gives the body a break from digestion every day for a set period of hours and helps with weight loss. Juice fasting gives complete digestive rest while still getting calories and nutrients so you don’t feel weak. Fasting from eating helps hormone production which is how I originally got into it and it helps you to be quiet, go inside, and connect with your higher power.

Nervous System Regulation:

When I found out I had EDS I started physical therapy and one of the first things I was told was to start breathwork to strengthen my vagus nerve and help get more oxygen into my body to loosen up and relax my muscles so that I could self-correct the daily subluxations, partial dislocations, of my ribs, shoulder, pelvis, and knees. One thing I cannot adjust is the atlas disc in my neck which subluxates due to cervical instability and for this I rely on NUCCA upper cervical care. I learned that walking outside and connecting with nature would help regulate my nervous system so I started with just 5 minutes a day and worked my way up. I do strength training to build muscles that help keep my bones and ligaments in place since my fascia doesn’t hold me together the way most people’s does. I learned the benefits of grounding, walking barefoot, to connect and recharge through the earth’s charge and I got my Vitamin D levels up through sungazing right after sunrise and before sunset.

Self-Concept:

When I was sick and in bed for months at a time unable to move my body I would envision myself out doing things with my family. When I started to get my health back I thanked God all the time and still do for the use of my body and voice and for a second chance at life. I learned that I had been using the word against myself for so many years when I constantly spoke about how sick I was and I started to only speak health and favor over myself. I found that when I surrendered to God everything I asked for was handed to me. I realized I could use this in other areas of my life. Through addressing and changing my limiting beliefs and concepts of self I have learned to create what I want by thinking, feeling, writing, and speaking what I want into existence. I’ve learned tools to make this magic wand work quickly and effectively and it has changed my entire life. I no longer have fear of health or lack of anything. I have found freedom through faith.
